Frequently asked questions
Is TrailR free?
Yes. TrailR is free to download and free to use. Create an account, start swiping, and build your taste profile at no cost.
How do I reset my password?
On the sign-in screen, enter your email and tap "Forgot password?" We'll send a reset link to your inbox. If it doesn't arrive within a few minutes, check your spam folder. If you signed up with Sign in with Apple, you don't have a TrailR password — manage your sign-in through your Apple ID settings instead.
How do I change my username?
Go to your profile, tap the settings icon, then Edit Profile, and tap your username to open the change screen. To keep usernames stable across the community, you can change your username once every 30 days — so pick one you'll be happy with. Your display name (the name shown above your username) can be changed anytime.
How do I import my Letterboxd history?
TrailR can import the films you've already logged on Letterboxd so your taste profile starts strong on day one. Export your data from Letterboxd (Settings → Import & Export → Export Your Data), then use the Letterboxd import option in TrailR and select the exported file. We'll match your watched films and fold them into your profile.
How do I control what shows on my profile?
You decide which sections are public. In Edit Profile, open Profile Visibility and toggle Liked, Watched, Saved, Reposts, and Lists on or off independently. Anything you hide won't appear on your public profile — and won't be broadcast to your followers' activity feeds either.
How do I block, mute, or report someone?
Open the profile of the person in question and use the menu to block or mute them. Blocking removes the connection in both directions and hides your activity from them; muting keeps you connected but stops their notifications from reaching you. To report a user or a comment, use the report option in the same menu. We review reports and take action on content or accounts that violate our Terms.
Why are some movies missing trailers?
TrailR plays trailers sourced from our movie data provider. Occasionally a title doesn't have a trailer available yet, especially for very new, very old, or more obscure releases. When that happens, the film may not appear in the swipe feed, since the trailer is the whole point. Trailer availability updates over time as more become available.
How is my taste profile built?
As you watch, like, save, and add films to lists, TrailR learns the genres, eras, and styles you gravitate toward and tunes your feed accordingly. The more you use it, the sharper your recommendations get. You're always in control — your activity is yours, and you can manage what's visible to others in Profile Visibility.
How do I delete my account?
You can permanently delete your account and all associated data from inside the app: go to your profile, tap the settings icon, and choose Delete Account. You'll be asked to confirm, since this cannot be undone. For security, you may be asked to sign out and sign back in before deleting. Once confirmed, your account and personal data are removed. See our Privacy Policy for details on data retention.
I found a bug or have a feature idea.
We'd love to hear it. Email support@trailr.tv with as much detail as you can — bugs, ideas, and feedback all genuinely help shape where TrailR goes next.
